Stuttering

Has Your Child Been Struggling With Stuttering?

If your child is living with a communication disorder such as stuttering, our licensed Batavia & Port Charlotte speech therapists can help.

Stuttering is a type of fluency disorder that is fairly common in children. It occurs when the flow of speech is interrupted by unusual verbal stops in speech, partial-word repetitions (e.g., “b-b-boy”), or prolonging sounds and syllables (e.g., “sssssnake”).  Your child may be self-aware of their stuttering and struggling with wanting to socialize with others. Stuttering is most commonly diagnosed in children between the ages of 2 and 5. It is not unusual for a stutter to not resolve by itself for one reason or another.

If your child has been struggling with a stutter and it is starting to impact their daily life, it may be time to consult with one of our speech therapists at Therapy Care. Contact us today to get started!

How Can Speech Therapy In Batavia Help My Child With Their Stutter?

Stuttering can be a frustrating and isolating experience for both children and their families. As Pediatric Therapists specializing in speech therapy, we have helped countless children overcome stuttering and improve their communication skills. By providing a comprehensive evaluation and personalized treatment plan, we can help your child develop the skills and confidence needed to communicate effectively with others.

During the initial consultation, our experienced speech therapist will conduct a thorough evaluation of your child’s speech patterns and communication abilities. This evaluation will help us determine the best possible treatment plan for your child’s unique needs. Our goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment where your child can feel comfortable expressing themselves and working towards their communication goals.

Our speech therapy sessions are conducted in a relaxed and friendly setting, where your child will receive one-on-one attention and personalized care. Depending on your child’s needs, we may recommend one or more sessions per week to ensure steady progress. We believe in a proactive and collaborative approach, and we will work closely with you and your child to establish achievable goals and track progress over time.

By keeping up with regular appointments with a speech therapist, your child will receive ongoing support and guidance to help manage their stuttering disorder. We understand that every child is unique, and we will adjust our activities and focus as needed to meet your child’s evolving needs. Our goal is to help your child develop the communication skills and confidence they need to succeed in every area of their life.

It’s always emotionally tough to learn your child isn’t hitting expected milestones. Luckily, we had a really great experience with our speech therapist, Andrea. My son is an extremely shy kid and she quickly got him to warm up to her in their sessions at his in-home daycare. We clearly observed his progress at home, and were impressed at how well her lessons were sticking with him. I also appreciated the fact that she was an excellent communicator and would always keep me posted on how he was doing, and what letters or phrases he had mastered saying. Andrea was kind, flexible, and was exactly who I (and my son) needed at a time when he needed speech therapy, and I needed reassurance that he was going to be OK. Highly recommend Therapy Care.
